Job Title:                     Strategic Sourcing Manager

Job Summary:            This is a multi-disciplinary role in which the sourcing associate will have responsibility for assisting with the sourcing, negotiation and vendor management for the procurement of all goods and services for Beazley’s operations worldwide

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Head of Sourcing with developing sourcing and negotiation strategies.

  • Develop relationships with business clients to assess and advise on current business requirements, future needs and expectations as it relates to procurement and vendor management

  • In conjunction with the Head of Sourcing, provide guidance on vendor selection and management to internal clients

  • Analyze past and present spend reports to develop new sourcing opportunities

  • Responsible for entering all executed contracts into the contract database

  • Create request for proposals for all sourcing projects and assist with analyzing responses

  • Develop methods to audit supplier quality and contract performance

  • Assist tracking savings and projections – maintain key performance metrics.

  • Provide advice and guidance to teams on how to implement Beazley’s Procurement and Vendor Management Policy

  • Track compliance to Beazley Risk Controls for Material and Outsource suppliers.This includes liaising with vendor owners to ensure they are fulfilling their responsibilities

  • Provide advice to teams on the interpretation of contractual documentation with team specific suppliers

  • Develop and implement performance measurement processes to ensure contracted service levels are met and value for money is achieved through the life of contracts

  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that service is being delivered according to contracts and that value for money is maintained


  • Providing assistance and admin support in the resolution of contractual disputes

  • Administrative assistance on managing commercial savings including providing monthly summaries to the Head of Sourcing

  • Comply with any specific responsibilities necessary for your role as outlined by your line manager, the Talent Management development or assurance teams (compliance, risk, internal audit) and ensure you keep up to date with developments in these areas.  This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system.  These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.

Education and Qualifications

  • Educated to ‘A’ level/High School graduate or equivalent

  • Degree in any discipline – preferred but not essential

Skills and Abilities:

  • RFP and contract drafting skills

  • Ability to work to deadlines

  • Contract knowledge and the ability to review and redline a contract.

  • Commercially astute – able to negotiate effectively with vendors and key stakeholders

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including proven ability to work with non-technical people

  • Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Successful track record in strategic sourcing and procurement in a global environment

  • Minimum of five years of sourcing/procurement experience

  • IT sourcing experience preferred but not essential

  • Knowledgeable of vendor and contract management
