Job Summary:  To provide regulatory compliance assistance and assurance supporting regulatory compliance across the company as it grows in size and complexity, with particular responsibility for supporting growth in Europe on company paper and Lloyd’s paper, and supporting the Compliance Manager in Dublin with the CBI regulatory relationship. Support UK & RoW compliance function as necessary

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice to the business on ad hoc regulatory issues.  This may be written or verbal or through assisting the compliance team with training sessions and workshops.  This involves being available and very responsive, able to carry out research quickly and effectively. 
  • Review and investigate results from sanctions screening and escalate possible matches to the financial crime compliance manager and UK & RoW Head of Compliance.
  • Manage and monitor the due diligence process and the terms of business agreements with brokers. Perform regular monitoring to ensure business is only placed with approved brokers.
  • Investigate results from the monthly exception reports on sanctions and the ECO.
  • Assist with the preparation of compliance papers to various committees.
  • Ensure the firm’s data protection registrations are kept up to date and arrange renewal as appropriate.
  • Assist with ad-hoc compliance work and projects arising from time to time.
  • Support the compliance function in designing, writing and implementing frameworks, policies, procedures, processes and systems.
  • Support compliance and regulatory projects, including implementation of legislation / regulation.
  • Build and maintain a close working relationship with the business.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the internal business and support teams so that all teams go to Compliance for support in ensuring they carry out their roles in a compliant fashion.
  • Liaison with underwriting on compliance issues pertaining to underwriter decisions.
  • Working with the coverholder management team to ensure best practices around delegated underwriting controls.
  • Support the business generally through finding ways to get objectives achieved, and achieved effectively.
  • Support the compliance management team on any specific areas as required.

  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system.  These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.

Personal Specification:

Education and Qualifications

  • Have obtained one of the following Professional qualifications - LCOI, ACII or CIP. Or
  • Have obtained a Professional qualification in Risk, Accountancy, or Law. 

Skills and Abilities

  • 2 additional European languages – ideally Spanish, French, German or Italian

Knowledge and Experience

  • Compliance/regulatory/legal experience in insurance underwriting /insurance broking or financial services preferable.

If based in Dublin, this role will be deemed a Control Function 2 as defined under the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness and Probity Regime.
