Why we are recruiting
 
The Forum serves as the secretariat for The Global Shapers Community and The Forum of Young Global Leaders. Both foundations, each with their own distinct model and programming, bring together next-generation leaders, innovators and changemakers from across the globe.
 
The Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional and global challenges. The community includes more than 8000 members and alumni in 175 countries and territories.
 
The Forum of Young Global Leaders is a community of enterprising leaders who have achieved individual success and want to build and leverage their talents for social good. Each year the Forum selects a new class of distinguished leaders under the age of 40 based on their ground-breaking work, creative approaches to problem solving and ability to build bridges across sectors.
 
The Foundations Team is currently hiring seven interns to provide support in the areas mentioned below. All intern candidates must be currently enrolled in a course of study, preferably at the Master’s level or higher. Applications are open until 31 January 2020.

(1) Intern – Partnerships and Digital Engagement
 
This intern will support the Partnerships and Digital Engagement Team with a focus on Marketing & Communications. 
  • Develop engaging web content, social media posts, proposals and marketing materials
  • Conduct research on potential donors, partners and non-profit organizations 
  • Maintain and grow a content library including stories about Global Shaper and Young Global Leader members, projects, initiatives and collaborations
  • Support the communications planning for the Future of Leadership Summit

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • Quality of social media posts and other digital content
  • Quality and efficiency in producing research analysis of potential donors and partners
  • Agility and efficiency in responding to new assignment and tasks linked to the communications and marketing for the Foundations Team

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, liberal arts, social sciences, international affairs, or related field
  • Experience with digital collaboration tools and social media platforms 
  • Interest in project management, leadership studies and international development

 

(2) Intern – YGL Selection

 

This internship is designed to evaluate and strengthen data and analysis to support the YGL programme offerings to achieve the Foundation’s vision and mission.

  • Support the Selection Process of Young Global Leaders, including helping to maintain the team’s timeline and cross organizational coordination
  • Work with Primary Engagement Managers to ensure high quality candidates across regions, their assessments and summaries
  • Maintain database of information on candidates 
  • Support preparation of insightful, high-quality materials for the Selection Committee
  • Conduct a comparative analysis of the Young Global Leaders selection process, using other high calibre selection processes as benchmarks
  • Recommend and integrate a series of process improvements to ensure high quality and efficient selection process

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • Regional, sector and other categories of diversity of candidate pool
  • Quality of candidate information and accuracy of database
  • Presentation of materials for Selection Committee

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data management, social science research, statistics, international affairs, or related field
  • Experience working in selection processes and/or candidate evaluations

 

(3) Intern - Kakuma Refugee Settlement Project

 

This intern will coordinate the impact efforts of the Forum Foundations to realize the economic potential of refugees, building on recent Impact Expeditions and initiatives taking place in the Kakuma Refugee Settlement.

  • Liaise across the World Economic Forum and Foundations to ensure the work with and in Kakuma is aligned and complements the broader humanitarian agenda 
  • Coordinate with the YGL-secretariat to support YGL contributions to this collective effort and incorporate Global Shapers, in particular the entrepreneur-in-residence program 
  • Liaise with partners to ensure timely, regular and quality reporting on the virtual mentorship component of the programme
  • Plan any relevant media campaigns, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and YGL social media teams
  • Produce content in the Forum of blog posts and briefings around the topic, including designing content for a permanent Kakuma page to be part of the Forum website
  • Research, review and synthesize policy and academic content around the topic of refugee economies and humanitarian investing to inform the YGL, Global Shaper and other Forum engagement in Kakuma.

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • Ongoing engagement of the YGLs who have committed to leading the efforts in Kakuma
  • Ability to keep the cross-Forum refugee agenda coordinated and well informed of activities in Kakuma
  • Agility and efficiency in responding to new assignment and tasks linked to the Forum’s Refugee agenda

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, communications, marketing, liberal arts, social sciences, or related field
  • Experience with project management, digital collaboration tools and social media platforms

 

(4) Intern – Programme Impact, Young Global Leaders

 

This internship is designed to evaluate and strengthen data analysis and storytelling to support the YGL programme experience, thus achieving the Foundation’s vision and mission.

  • Develop an Engagement Scorecard for YGL members to understand the value they obtain for their membership and ways to further advance their value
  • Support the implementation of our Impact Measurement Framework
  • Analyse engagement data to provide an overview of member engagement by community segment
  • Promote the sharing of Impact-related content on the World Economic Forum’s digital platforms: Story telling around our impact.

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • Meaningful data collection and analysis on key metrics related to community impact to feed into programming efforts
  • Increased collaboration and sharing on TopLink
  • Complete reconciliation of YGL professional data
  • Supporting the public profile of the Forum of Young Global Leaders

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science research, statistics, business management, non-profit management, or related field
  • Experience working in an outcomes-oriented environment

 

(5) Intern – Process Optimisation, Global Shapers

 

This intern will support community management and process optimisation for the Global Shapers community.

  • Manage the results of the hub elections process – creating new accounts, ensuring accurate data, processing cases and supporting the communications process for the Curator and Alumni transition
  • Optimise community management by sharing support issues, user feedback and ideas with the TopLink Team to improve digital products and support change management activities
  • Facilitate the selection process for World Economic Forum and Global Shapers Community events, including synthesizing results, creating visuals to review applications and coding selected participants into Salesforce and relevant TopLink discussion groups
  • Support the Global Shapers Community’s Advisory Council, Community Champions and Experts Network, preparing nomination processes, meeting agendas, learning content, documentation and insight repositories, performance reviews and necessary reports
  • Lead the review and analysis of community survey results, ensuring relevant constituent insights are integrated into process optimization efforts and 2020 activities

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data management, social science research, statistics or related field
  • Interest in project management, leadership studies and international development

 

(6) Intern – Monitoring and Evaluation, Global Shapers

 

This intern will support community management and monitoring & evaluation for the Global Shapers community.

  • Benchmark analysis of Impact and M&E frameworks that can be applicable for volunteer led initiatives across different locations to make improvement suggestions
  • Co-develop and implement a data collection cycle (both quantitative and qualitative) to measure achievement against the performance indicators
  • Review the quality of existing data in the community projects, the methods of collecting it, and the degree to which it will provide good baseline for impact evaluation
  • Maintain and administer the M&E database; analyse and aggregate findings
  • Co-develop a tool that allows constituents to easily access the impact data available
  • Identify lessons learned, develop case studies and provide a final report with advice to the Global Shapers Community on improving project performance using M&E findings

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fields of impact measurement, data management, social science research, statistics or related fields
  • Interest in project management, leadership studies and international development

 

(7) Intern – Future of Leadership Summit

 

This intern will support the 2020 Future of Leadership Summit.

  • Provide coordination support for summit logistics, including transportation and accommodation
  • Curate the digital infrastructure of the summit, including creating opportunities, sending invitations, uploading sessions, coding participants, coordinating session sign-up, etc.
  • Support participant relations virtually and on-site, including leading TopLink engagement and communications related to the summit posting regularly to keep participants informed
  • Support the team in the communication of key messages about the Future of Leadership Summit and create content for social media, websites, blogs, presentation and marketing materials
  • Create the Summit Participant List to share with external stakeholders and partners
  • Manage the preparation of visa letters and communications

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • Quality and accuracy of the logistical support in the lead-up to the Future of Leadership Summit
  • Agility and efficiency in responding to event related queries of the Summit Core Team
  • Agility and efficiency in providing participant relations support to members of the Global Shapers and YGL Communities.

Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, hospitality management or a related field
  • Experience with digital collaboration tools and social media platforms
  • Perfect command of verbal and written English; and excellent professional writing skills in English
