Building on the six priority areas that have framed its Sustainability Policy since 2015, as well as on its Sustainable Procurement Policy, the Forum has developed a Sustainability Strategy 2021. This aims to ensure the highest level of sustainability for its offices and events, as well as to strengthen the integration of sustainability into its global operations and business processes.
 
The Sustainability team drives and implements the Sustainability Strategy 2021. It has a strategic role that supports all clusters to ensure the Forum is on the cutting edge of all trends in sustainability and bridges theory and practice.
 
The Intern, Organizational Sustainability will support projects and responsibilities as needed within the Sustainability team. The intern’s term will start as soon as possible, and the duration of the internship is for six months. This is a full-time internship position, based at our headquarters in Geneva.
 
Reporting lines and interactions
 
This position reports to the Sustainability Specialist/Lead.
 
Main responsibilities
  • Support the integration of sustainability in all Forum activities through the implementation of the Sustainability Strategy 2021
  • Lead on the coordination of environmental impact assessments of Forum events, including collecting, verifying and processing relevant data, to support performance tracking
  • Provide background environmental research studies, case studies and technical reports to support decision-making
  • Provide support with the drafting and preparation of external communications on the Forum’s internal sustainability efforts
  • Embed sustainability-relevant information into internal communication channels and create staff engagement material and internal communication initiatives
  • Contribute as needed to all aspects of the Sustainability team’s work The successful candidate will be assessed on
  • Setting up clear processes for the environmental impact assessments of Forum events
  • Raising the profile of the Forum’s internal sustainability efforts, both internally and externally
  • Successfully juggling competing priorities, with shifting parameters, to deliver to the highest standards and to agreed deadlines
Preferred requirements and experience
  • Currently completing a Master’s degree in environmental sciences or other relevant subject
  • Proficiency in data processing, analysis and visualization
  • Strong interest in and understanding of sustainability issues and organizational sustainability
  • Good understanding of how to use the latest sustainability science and apply it to business operations and strategies
  • Excellent written, digital and verbal communication skills with fluency in English
  • Exceptional organization and project management skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with competing priorities and different timescales
