The Faculty of Applied Sciences is the largest faculty at TU Delft and is equipped with advanced laboratory and experimental facilities. It has more than 200 academic staff and approximately 400 PhD and postdoc researchers from all over the world. Fundamental and applied science research is conducted in biotechnology, life sciences technology, chemical technology, nanoscience, nanotechnology, biophysics, radiation science and technology, biomedical engineering, energy technology, and engineering physics.


Fully funded two-year PDEng programmes

The Faculty offers two-year design-traineeships conducted in English leading to the award of a professional doctorate. This programme is a joint initiative with the biochemical and chemical industry and the government of the Netherlands. The traineeships are fully funded and train trainees to translate academic developments in life sciences and(bio)chemical engineering to real-life applications and industrial products, in order to meet the industry's demand for new technologies. This fully funded professional doctorate traineeship offers an application-focused alternative to the PhD degree and provides a solid basis for an accelerated start in an industrial career.
